“… they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered”. (Isaiah 29:9-10; 2 Nephi 27:5). This is the judgement delivered from our Father and the consequences that came with it! (Romans 11:25; Revelation 11:2; Daniel 7:25).
You may question how is this possible and why? But first, we must remember the LORD is spirit, and not flesh as we are. (John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 3:17). HE is NOT of this world as our flesh (bodies) are and belong to this world. (John 17:15-16; Ephesians 4:9-10). With that being said, the LORD has poured out, a deep, spiritual sleep on all of Israel. Allowing for our minds to be made blind. (2 Corinthians 3:14; 2 Corinthians 4:4). This manifested into the physical (material world) as well.
To understand the depth of HIS judgement we have to know what it means to stagger? What it means to be drunk? To have the spirit of deep sleep? In Isaiah, our Father makes it clear, it is NOT because of wine, but by HIS Hand. Additionally, we received spiritual blindness, deep sleep, according to HIS will.
Stagger: To totter; reel from side to side; difficulty walking.
Drunk: Being in a temporary state in which one’s physical and mental faculties are impaired by an excess of alcohol. Unable to speak or act in a usual way because of too much alcohol.
Spiritual Blindness/Deep Sleep: Loss of curiosity about deeper questions or life’s meaning. Emotional blunting or numbness, even when circumstances seem fine. Disconnection from purpose in daily life. Neglect of spiritual practices like prayer, Bible study, or worship. Lukewarmness in faith—neither passionate nor indifferent. Compromise with sin or acceptance of harmful habits. Withdrawal from fellowship and accountability. Physical symptoms such as chronic fatigue, poor sleep, and neglect of self-care.
Our Father closed and sealed the visions of the book (The Scriptures), the testimonies of the prophets (their words). (Isaiah 29:11-12; 2 Nephi 27:5). And NONE could read nor understand. Paul himself also wrote things hard for man to understand. Without the power of the HOLY GHOST power and Holy Spirit bearing witness, you can and will be lead according to your own understanding. (John 16:13; 2 Peter 3:16)
You don’t believe it? Ask yourself, “How can we have so many variations and denominations from ONE book, when ALL prophets were led by the SAME GOD? Is not the spirit of the prophets subject to the Spirit of God (the same Spirit)?” (1 Corinthians 14:32; Romans 8:14). Is there any variation in the LORD? God forbid! He is the same FOREVER and change NOT! HE is NOT the author of confusion! (1 Corinthians 14:33; Malachi 3:6).
If there are any flaws in the understanding of a man, regarding the word, it is not of our Father! So attribute the lack of clarity to the messenger, the man, or your lack of understanding. (Romans 3:4; Numbers 23:19). They are the ones, as well as yourselves, who have NOT sought HIM while in this corruptible flesh. (James 1:5; Matthew 7:7-8; Colossians 3:1).
The LORD suffers and indulges us for a time before HE renders a judgement unto us. (2 Peter 3:9; Numbers 14:18). Talk about mercy! Then, we reap the fruit of the seeds we have sown. Whether for good or evil, it IS just! (Galatians 6:7; Hosea 10:12-13). And still, we curse and cuss HIM instead of blessing HIM for allowing us to see our errors. We fill up the cup of HIS wrath and indignation but are upset when we must drink it to the last dregs. (Revelation 18:6; Revelation 14:10).
Howbeit we NEVER thank HIM for stopping us before we go too far, exceeding the point of no return, and rewarded to hell. Instead we should praise HIM for not making, for us, thrones in the depths of eternal damnation and hell. (Colossians 1: 13-14; 2 Timothy 1:9; 2 Nephi 1:13). Whether you believe it or not, that experience is REAL and does exist! (Peter and Paul wrote about it in separate writings).
As parents, when your children misbehaved so much, your love for them allows you to endure and give grace. It isn’t until they’ve exhausted that grace and patience that, in love, you chastise and rebuke them. (Proverbs 22:6; 22:15; Deuteronomy 6:7). Is not the hope of it all, that they will begin to listen and behave like good children? Doesn’t this teach discipline, understanding and accountability for the adults you are raising them to be? Are you better than the LORD, who is perfect, at being a parent? (Hebrews 12:5-8; Proverbs 3:11-12; Revelations 3:19).
However, with the same mouths we covenanted and confessed our Lord and Savior, we sin against HIM with. (Deuteronomy 29:12-15; Hebrews 8:10; 10:16). And with these same lips we promised to serve HIM with, we went astray whoring after other things to make it our god. Also, with this tongue, we have used it to bless EVERYTHING but our Lord and GOD with. But we are ALL guilty of this!
How long shall HE continue to suffer this evil and wickedness? (Proverbs 15:3; Hebrews 4:13). It isn’t until we feel the weight of our sins, justice being served, and paying restitution we began to feel HIS presence. (Deuteronomy 7:10; Romans 12:19). And in our dark places, lack, loneliness and despair we began to acknowledge HIM. Yet HE knows this and STILL HE waits for us to come to that realization. (Matthew 11:28-30; Isaiah 30:18). That’s the point when we can sense HIM and understand that we NEED HIM. Wake up and see there is NO TRUE PEACE WITHOUT HIM! (John 14:27; Isaiah 26:3; Romans 15:13).
I don’t know about the next person, but I hurt at the thought knowing I’ve caused HIM pain. It truly makes me weep and cry as I would for my earthly parents. Our Father is such a loving and merciful Father and a enduring and longsuffering GOD. (Numbers 14:18; 2 Peter 3:9). HE always makes a way for HIS children to come back to HIM. (Jeremiah 4:1; 30:8-10).
Our Father takes NO pleasure in vengeance on HIS creation. But it is just and necessary for us all. (Isaiah 59:18; Jeremiah 30:11-15). And when HE sees the state we are in it hurts HIM more than it hurts us. The pain we feel, HE cries and mourns with us also. (Moses 7:28-29; Luke 19:41-44).
HE is our Father FIRST! But we’ve believe HIM to be this insensitive, cruel and unforgiving GOD. One who is bloodthirsty and bent on destroying all HIS creation. But contrary to popular belief, HE IS NOT! The LORD is THE MOST loving, understanding, compassionate, empathetic, caring, detailed, forgiving, JUST, funny, comforting, and faithful Father I’ve EVER known or had. (2 Thessalonians 3:3; Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalms 103:8-10). Search the scriptures for these examples.
There aren’t enough words to describe HIM, and all HE is, that would be sufficient. Without HIM I, neither the rest of the world, would not be here today. (Job 38:4; 41:11). He has taught me so many things spiritually and materially; about myself, this world, HIS kingdom and so much more. The faithfulness and gratitude I show could never be enough to thank nor repay HIM. Nor could I ever praise, love and appreciation HIM enough that would be sufficient but I won’t stop trying.
I can NEVER thank HIM enough so I will remain FOREVER indebted to HIM with a good and cheerful heart! (Psalms 100:2; 1 Corinthians 6:20)
But this wasn’t always the case. I, also, went astray whoring, making everything BUT HIM my GOD. I NEVER knew or had a relationship with HIM. It wasn’t until I felt HIS love and justice reach me that I began to get understanding. Then I became aware of my errors and wicked ways. (Proverbs 1:7; Proverbs 3:7).
When you are in darkness, spiritual blindness, you don’t fully understand what you’re doing and it’s affects. (Isaiah 5:21; Ephesians 4:18). And it isn’t until you are enlightened by HIS presence that you can see clearly. (Matthew 13:16; Proverbs 3:6). Then you become aware of your mistakes, evil and shame. This process is far from pretty, but it is also necessary.
Our Father never judged me for what I didn’t know nor did HE make me feel less than. But HE empowered me by HIS love, mercy, and Holy Spirit. (2 Timothy 1:7; 2 Corinthians 10:4). HE does it all to bring us safely back to the path of righteousness. And that HE may save our souls for HIM. (Psalms 23:3; Joshua 1:9). We are HIS and are bought with a price and its high time we began to live a life that mirrors this!
HE sent HIS ONLY Begotten Son to walk, live and die a righteous life that we could NEVER. (1 Peter 3:21; John 3:16). We ALWAYS, since the beginning of creation, have fallen short of the glory of GOD. (Romans 3:23; 5:12). Christ was the ONLY Son and perfect image of GOD according to the Spirit. (John 1:11-13; Romans 1:4). And with His life and death, He showed us how to become like Him. He showed us how to be perfect in spirit. (John 13:15; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6).
Do we not owe Him our faithfulness? To keep His commandments given to us by our Father? (JJohn 7:16; 14:24).
The LORD has promised that if we repent, confess us our sins, turn from our wicked ways and lead a righteous life that HE will forgive and accept us into HIS kingdom. (1 John 1:9; Psalms 34:14; Proverbs 15:9). To be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ; being submerged in water, symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. (Doctrines & Covenants 39:9; Matthew 3:14-16). This act of commitment, is covenanting us back to our Father. Saying, “Yes, we will do all that YOU say”.
We take this oath, just as a marriage union, before a host of witnesses. All the creations in the heavens, below and in the depths, bare witness and will testify against us in this thing. This promise, on both ends, is being acknowledge and fulfilled by our Father and ourselves. (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Now, we are activated, and we began to become a new creation in the name and body of Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Mark 2:22). Also, the Father awaken us from our deep spiritual sleep and began to remove the veil from our hearts and minds. (2 Corinthians 3:16; Isaiah 52:2). HE breathes life back into us, give our life meaning and a purpose, wisdom, knowledge and so much more. (Isaiah 61:3; John 20:21-23).
To a carnal, spiritually blinded, man this is “foolishness” and lacks “personal integrity”. (1 Corinthians 1:18; 2:14; 3:19). He sees the commandments as burdensome and not for what they TRULY are, demonic prevention. For EVERY sin there is an unclean, demonic, spirit attached to it. And the deeper you are in those sins the greater and more abundant are your demons. (Revelations 20:1-3; Romans 8:7-8).
With this sin, they bind you in yokes of iron and bring you into captivity to rule your life. Jesus forewarned us about this in a parable. But now we can see the cost of spiritual sleep/spiritual blindness. And ALL creation moans and groans, awaiting the day of resurrection so all can be at rest. But first the children of GOD MUST awake now! (Romans 8:22-23; Moses 7:39)
